hey there!
Thanks for visiting. My name is Ellis (also known by some as Jones.) I was raised by the Southwest, my lovely parents, and many wild things. This land is homeland and territory of Ute, Jicarilla Apache, Arapaho, Comanche, and Dine tribes.
I began writing stories and poems at five or six years old. I think I fell in love with plants the moment my hands and ears and eyes and nose and spirit could take them in. This site was made to hopefully motivate more writing (mixed results so far). It also is a step to hopefully become more official in sharing herbal goods with friends, family, and at small markets.
I always thought I would leave my hometown, but haven't yet. I studied sociology, environmental studies, writing, and regenerative foods at FLC. I've worked in spheres of wild foods, community organizing, human services, backpacking & river guiding, and youth advocacy and support. For the last 2 years, I've had the honor to work intimately with young people in SW CO. Many have major unmet needs while navigating systems, abuse, homelessness, and other complex struggles.
I want to be a community herbalist and educator. I am saving up to attend herbal school in 2025/2026. I dream of ways to weave plants into my current career. I believe in the power and intelligence and healing of plants. And, I believe in making things with my hands. 100% of Rebels Root product sales will fund this venture. You can see what I'm slinging on the herb page.
